Welcome to our classroomI have taken great care into creating an environment sensitive to individuals with sensory regulation challenges. I collaborate with Occupational Therapists and other experts in the field of ASD to continue to improve and evolve our learning space. Please let me know if you have any ideas!

AtmosphereMy number one goal is to create a relaxing atmosphere. I want a "safe haven" for my kiddos who may get over stimulated by just walking down the hallway with the bright lights and white walls. I do not use the florescent lights unless it is extremely overcast outside. (I even re-rolled the window shade to maximize the amount of outside light - now that was a project to figure that out! Thank goodness for YouTube.)

Visual checklist directly connected to our token economy system. Students earn "check marks and pennies" to spend on free iPad time, drawing on the whiteboard, or sensory snacks such as pretzels and cookies. We also have a one page visual schedule serving as our overview of the day. (pictured below.)
